Trouble in Playland
I didn’t get paid this week.
I shouldn’t be surprised. I knew the company I work for has been having some cash flow issues for the last few weeks. We were told it was temporary… but I found out that some of our vendors are no longer willing to help with IT support, shipping and other usual office-type stuff. We all knew we were waiting for some influx of capital.
But then we didn’t get paid Friday.
Again, we are being told that this is only for (a few days) until mid-next-week when we will get our checks, but I wonder. This is a really, really BAD sign. It seems the “investors” may not be materializing after all and I wonder now how long I will continue to have a job. It is weird though, because the company just started working with some big web development agency. I know that other companies we have worked with have NOT been paid! Seems like some major stringing along is going on here.
And I am so freakin’ pissed! WHY can’t I simply find myself a stable job? It just seems as though you are safe nowhere anymore and within a year at best you could be on the chopping block again. In this case it might just be 6 months.
I will keep posting on developments, but right now it sure is looking like I might become a Miss Displaced once again. 
Are you searching and applying elsewhere in the meantime? It sounds like you should get a head start on another job search. Good luck MD and hopefully you will get paid!

I’ve started looking around, but it would be hard to leave the office for an interview. We have been notified that we may not get paid until mid-February. That’s two missed paychecks!!!
Boss has promised us a “bonus” for the “pain & suffering” we’re going through, but who the hell knows if this is a lie or not. If I quit, then I can also not get unemployment, even though I have not been getting paid.
I don’t know what to think or do right now. Damn, why do I always seem to get these kinds of places?
Oh man! Wow, Is that even legal? Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Perhaps I’m being a tad overly optimistic, but if you get a call from a prospective employer, maybe they are willing to come up with an alternative time for you interview wise.
Since you guys are not getting paid, the boss should throw in extra vacation and sick time along with that proposed “bonus”.
